MINDORO – The Philippine Coast Guard has begun its search and rescue operation on a 14-crew crew aboard the fishing vessel Liberty 5, after colliding with a Hong Kong Flagged vessel MV Vienna Wood.
According to a report reached the PCG the collision of two maritime vessels off the coast of Mindoro yesterday morning.
PCG Spokesman commodore Armand Balilo said they have deployed vessels to assist in the operations including BRP Boracay in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro and that several additional rescue teams will be assisting from the Port of Batangas.
This morning the PCG also began aerial surveys using the Islander Plane and twin engine helicopters to speed up the search for the missing crew.
It was learned that MV Viena Wood was from Subic and was on its way to Australia while the boarding boat of the pinoy was based in Cagayan de Tawi-Tawi and on to Navotas Port.
