About 300 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) tested positive for COVID-19 in Kuwait.
The said OFWs are among the more than 55,000 cases of COVID-19 Kuwait.
At the “Laging Handa” public press briefing, Charge d ’Affaires to Kuwait Charleson Hermosura said that of the said number, 260 have been recovered while 31 were recorded dead including four healthworkers.
The remains of the compatriots who died due to COVID-19 have been buried in Kuwait while others have been repatriated for cremation.
Meanwhile, Amb. Hermosura as many as 23,000 OFWs have been displaced or lost their jobs in Kuwait.
A total of 5,000 of them have already received $ 200 cash assistance from the DOLE-AKAP program while the application process for displaced OFWs is still ongoing.
