President Rodrigo Duterte reinstated Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite and Rizal from the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from August 4 to August 18.
This follows the recommendation of the Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III after a group of medical workers spoke to him.
The president made the announcement after he convened several cabinet members over the health workers’ call for the government to tighten the quarantine in place to finally monitor the spread of COVID-19.
The president also called on health workers to understand the government’s situation because he also said that everyone needs to be balanced, especially the gradual opening of the economy.
The president also assured that it is studying the demand for additional benefits to health workers.
