MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte will not fire PhilHealth Chief Ricar-do Morales, despite the alleged corruption in the agency.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the President himself said that he would not remove Morales if there was no evidence to link him to corruption.
Roque said the Senate is already documenting the evidence and Usec is also conducting a separate investigation. Melchor Quitain of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President.
Morales is said to have decided whether he will temporarily leave the post while conducting investigations.
Roque believes that once the evidence is presented to the President, he will do the right thing.
The House Committee on Public Accounts hearing yesterday revealed that PhilHealth lost P102 billion due to overpayment and P51.2 billion due to corruption or a total of P153.7 billion in the five years or from 2013 to 2018.
