As confirmed by the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) organization, the candidates’ rehearsal will be accompanied by the health and safety protocols set by the Film Development Council of the Philippines and the Department of Health amid the country’s coronavirus pandemic.

The video shows part of the training of the 48 candidates who are wearing face masks, as well as face shields and their social distancing is remarkable.

It was first reported that the pre-pageant activities will be held at the Baguio Country Club until the grand finals next Sunday, October 25.

Prior to this, the preliminary interview is lined up on October 21, followed by the National Costume, Swimsuit & Evening Gown competition on October 23.

In the MUP announcement, actor Benjamin Alves will serve as the official host of the preliminaries while in the coronation will be world-class TV host KC Montero.

Meanwhile, Vincy Vacalares of Cagayan de Oro said she will prioritize his recovery after being hit by his Coronavirus Disease (COVID) only on October 14.

According to Vincy, she apologizes to those she met and prays that they are negative about COVID.

With a heavy heart, allow me to break the news to all of you that I tested positive for Covid-19 last October 14. This means that I will not be able to continue with my journey to the Miss Universe Philippines crown this year. ✨👑🌎 My team and I did all our best to strictly follow all the health and safety protocols, but still the virus hit me. To those I had in close contact with, please inform the City Health Officers so they can also check on your state. I pray that you are safe from the virus. I am currently confined in a hospital here in Manila and rest assured, I am in good hands. 👌🏼 I sincerely apologize for what happened. Please be always on the lookout for your health and safety. Finally, I would like to thank the MUPh team who never hesitated to aid me: Tito Albert Andrada, Mama J, Sir Angel, Sir Pau, Sir Jory, and to those that I failed to mention. Thank you also to my family, to Ms Mags Cue, and to my #TeamAmegaBeauties family for constantly checking on me. To all my friends, colleagues, students, parents, and supporters, I am forever grateful for your love and support in this endeavor. Thank you so much. I love you all. ❤️ Once again, I am deeply sorry for whatever I have caused you. Please don’t forget to include me in your prayers. Daghang salamat! Stay safe mga higala! 🙏🏼 #keepgoing #lifegoeson #missuniversephilippines

The Sorsogon candidate also withdrew first after testing positive for the deadly virus.

According to Maria Isabela Galeria, even though she is a COVID survivor, she does not seem ready for re-engaging in MUP activities.

On the other hand, the athlete beauty queen from Quezon City is one of the “hot picks” of a pageant website including Miss Davao and Miss Sorsogon who just recovered after being hit by a coronavirus.

If you recall, Gumabao was once a “young lady” candidate and a representative of the Philippines in Miss Globe 2018 where she finished in the Top 15.

There is no announcement yet on how Gazini Ganados’ “final walk” will be as 2019 Binibining Pilipinas-Universe now that the MUP is separated from the franchise.

Ganados failed to give the back-to-back win next to Catriona Magnayon Gray where she only finished in the Top 20 in Miss Universe last year.
