The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) clarified that the government has no plans to sell assets in the near future to supplement the funds to be used in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Budget Sec. Wendel Avisado, although it is possible that the government will do this once the funds are depleted but it is still far away especially since the Philippine doillar reserves have grown so much that they have no worries.
According to Sec. Avisado, the economy is also slowly opening up so that it can revitalize and re-operate the businesses affected by the pandemic.
Sec. It is also alleged that they have also identified the source of money to buy vaccines against COVID-19 as mentioned earlier by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Recall that in April, President Duterte announced that he was considering selling government properties to fund the government’s COVID-19 response.
But Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno believes that President Duterte is just joking and does not need to sell government assests just to avail COVID-19 vaccines.
