Iloilo representative Rabiya Mateo was presented as the new Miss Universe Philippines.
On coronation day in Baguio City, Mateo’s beauty and talent prevailed over 47 other candidates.
The first runner-up was awarded to Miss Paranaque, and the second runner-up was one of the early favorites Michelle Gumabao from Quezon City.
Miss Bohol followed, while Cavite was fourth runner-up.
Meanwhile, KC Montero hosted the coronation day of the first ever Miss Universe Philippines.
Former Miss Universe runner-ups Janine Tugonon and Ariella Arida, as well as some government officials Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Eric Yap, and Arlene Magalong who is the wife of Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
Ilongga beauty will attempt to win the fifth Miss Universe crown in the Philippines.
Last year, Ganados failed to give a back-to-back win next to Catriona Magnayon Gray where she only finished in the Top 20 in Miss Universe.
