2018 Miss Universe Catriona Magnayon Gray dedicated her first day of finishing her home quarantine, to her passion for music.
The 27-year-old half Australian beauty, a native of Bicol, is one of the selected singers who has started recording for their part in the star-studded new recording of the song “Bagani.”
This will serve as the theme song for the planned celebration of the National Quincentennial or the 500th anniversary of the victory in Mactan in April 1521 which was the signal of Christianity in the country.
The fourth Pinay Miss Universe will be joined by Noel Cabangon, Bayang Barrios, Juris, Dulce and “Bagani” composer Roel Rostata.
Some singers from Cebu and other regions are also in the line up.
“First day out of quarantine went something like,” Gray captioned his picture while in the recording studio.
If you remember, Cat had to quarantine after her Christmas and New Year celebration with celebrity boyfriend Sam Milby abroad.
In America, Gray also celebrated his birthday with a simple but romantic date with a 36-year-old singer / actor where there was no cake but there was a home made birthday pizza.
Meanwhile, according to veteran musician-producer Jungee Marcelo, she is nervous but will do his “best” to still convey to the Filipino people the meaningful message of the song in the midst of the pandemic.
“If not for the pandemic, it would have been easy – having one recording assembly like ‘We Are the World.’ But now it’s triple hard blending the recordings. It’s like a puzzle, ”Marcelo told ABS-CBN.
Marcelo was impressed with Cat’s singing talent and made the snippet or part of the beauty queen’s recording session public.
“Bagani” is a product of PhilPop Bootcamp 2019 and now has a partnership with the National Quincentennial Committee, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, and National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
