Angel Locsin blast Sen. Koko Pimentel over breach in quarantine protocols

MANILA — Angel Locsin publicly said sorry Wednesday over what she described as a “mortal sin” of once politically endorsing Senator Koko Pimentel, amid the lawmaker’s controversial quarantine breach that has sparked outrage online.

 Actress Angel Locsin hailed as Forbes Asia’s latest Heroes of Philanthropy list. The Kapamilya actress, who is active in doing charity work in giving out aid to the victims of violence and natural disasters.

Pimentel earlier Wednesday announced that he tested positive on the novel. The senator “unduly exposed health workers to possible infection” when he brought his wife, Kath, who was about to give birth to the hospital, Medical Director and Interim Co-CEO Saturnino Javier said. The senator also admitted that he started feeling body pains and flu on March 14, according to an ABS-CBN report. He also had diarrhea and had fever at 38 degrees Celsius, symptoms listed by the Health Department on its triage, on March 18.

In a tweet Wednesday, March 2, 2020, Angel reacted to an article about the incident in a playful manner, tagging an influencer, Cat Arambulo, who similarly became the target of criticisms in relation to the COVID-19 crisis.

Pimentel drew criticism over his entry to the hospital’s delivery room complex on March 24 to accompany his pregnant wife, Kath. The lawmaker had been a person under investigation (PUI) for possible infection of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which meant he should have been under self-quarantine under government guidelines.

Pimentel confirmed testing positive for COVID-19 while inside Makati Medical Center. The hospital denounced Pimentel’s “irresponsible and reckless action,” which “unduly exposed health workers to possible infection.”

On Twitter, Locsin replied to an article about the incident in a playful manner, tagging an influencer, Cat Arambulo, who similarly became the target of criticisms in relation to the COVID-19 crisis.
