Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash of a Philippine Air Force (PAF) rescue aircraft in Brgy. Upper Manggas, Lantawan, Basilan that killed four people.
In an exclusive interview with Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom), said the Sikorsky Rotary Wing Rescue Aircraft came from Zamboanga City and was on its way to Sulu to transport some victims of the twin explosions in Jolo, Sulu.
He said when the chopper arrived in the Basilan area, it suddenly collapsed.
According to the report, the weather in the area was bad when the incident happened.
Vinluan further said that PNP-Scene of Crime Office (SOCO) personnel are already leading the investigation into the tragedy.
Meanwhile, according to PAF Spokesperson Lt. Col. Aristedes Galang, when they notified the relatives of the four Air Force personnel killed in the helicopter crash.
Galang has yet to say what caused the chopper to fall.
4th Special Forces Battalion personnel are currently securing the area.
