Catanduanes Gov. Joseph Cua to the national government to expedite the return of electricity and operation of telephone companies in their province.
Earlier, for the first time after the ravages of typhoon Rolly, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) also contacted Gov. Cua through the satellite communication system VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) set-up by the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) in region 5.
Gov. Cua, they also need heavy equipment of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for clearing operations on almost all of their roads that are not yet passable.
According to Gov. Cua, about five people were reported killed in the typhoon in their province.
Gov. also confirmed. Cua who had a storm surge that reached five meters in the coastal areas while the typhoon was raging.
In this regard, NDRRM Executive Director Ricardo Jalad and Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque assured that the national government will soon bring the necessary personnel and equipment to Catanduanes through the Philippine Air Force (PAF) air assets.
