Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caught the mayor and vice mayor of San Mateo, Rizal.
In a social media post, San Mateo Vice Mayor Paeng Diaz said that he and his wife Mayor Tina Diaz underwent an RT-PCR test on Tuesday, and they both tested positive for the deadly virus.
“Ngayon pong araw na ito natanggap po namin ang resulta na ikinalulungkot po naming ibalita sa inyo na kapwa po kami ni Mayor Tina ay nag positibo para sa Covid 19 virus,”Diaz said.
“Medyo banayad po lamang ang aming mga sintomas sa panahong ito,”he added.
According to Diaz, they both experience mild symptoms of the disease.
The vice mayor thinks that it is possible that his wife was exposed to the virus in her interactions with healthcare workers and frontliners.
The mayor also recently visited the areas under lockdown to check on the condition of the residents.
“Hindi na rin nya maiwasan ang pagbisita sa mga lockdown areas upang masiguro na hindi napapabayaan ang ating mga mamayan na kasalukuyang dumaranas ng paghihirap mula sa pandemyang ito,” said the Mayor.
The vice mayor also asked their colleagues in the local government to continue the fight against the pandemic first.
