President Rodrigo Duterte has instructed the Department of Health (DOH) to distribute the drugs they hold that are about to expire so that they will not be wasted.
This was stated by Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque following the report of the Commission on Audit (COA) that up to P2.2 billion worth of drugs held by the DOH will be overstocked or expired soon.
Sec. Roque, he has already taken the side of the DOH in relation to this COA report.
According to Sec. Roque, based on DOH data, the expired drug held by the office is only P30 million, P1.2 billion is overstock or slow moving while P1.2 billion is about to expire.
Sec. Roque said that President Dutete has also instructed the DOH to expedite the release of drugs from warehouses so that the people can use them.
