Ermita Police Station chief Commander Ariel Caramoan was fired for failing to follow the social distancing protocol at the so-called Manila Bay white sand beach.
Manila Police District director Rolando Miranda confirmed the offering of administrative relief to the said official after the public raided the attraction, without following the government’s rule.
This Saturday, the new tourist spot worth P389-million will be temporarily opened to the public. Today it is also scheduled to close to continue the project.
The white sand placed on the shores of Manila Bay is made of crushed dolomite boulders from Cebu.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), the fine form of dolomite sand is dangerous when it is inhaled and inhaled.
