The Dominican priest Fr. Sonny Ramirez passed away at the age of 74 this Saturday, according to the confirmation of his alma mater Colegio de San Juan de Letran and his nephew Eric Ramirez
Statement of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Manila on their official Facebook page: “REST IN PEACE. We pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Fr. Sonny Ramirez, OP, Letran alumnus. “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. ”
His nephew Eric Ramirez confirmed the sad news.
“My heart is in a lot of hurt this evening with the very sad news of my Uncle passing away. Deep down I know he is with his best friend, the Lord. I can imagine him enjoying himself with his brothers and parents,” ani Eric Ramirez sa kanyang Facebook post.
“I truly wish we could have had more time spent together despite our physical distance,” dagdag pa niya.
“Rest In Peace Tito Sonny Ramirez. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Please watch over us until we meet again.”
Meanwhile, no other details were mentioned about the cause of Ramirez’s death.
Ramirez is one of the founding preachers of “Siete Palabras,” the tradition every Good Friday.
Father Ramirez was a prominent Dominican priest who became the spiritual adviser of prominent people.
