Hiking and trekking activities on Mount Pulag have been temporarily suspended due to corona virus disease
According to management of Mount Pulag National Park, the area will be closed to hikers until further notice.
To minimize the exposure to risk association with the Covid-19, there is a need to temporarily close not only tourism sites within the Mt. Pulag National Park but to include all tourism sites in the town,” Kabayan Mayor Faustino Aquisan said.
In the neighboring town in Itogon, Benguet mountain climbing activities at Mt. Ulap Eco-Trail are suspended until further notice as announced by the barangay local government unit.
Previously, Mt. Pulag was also closed to trekkers due to forest fires.
The country now has 33 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and a public health emergency was declared by President Rodrigo Duterte.
