Malacañang has denied reports that President Rodrigo Duterte allegedly left the country amid the COVID-19 crisis.
In a statement, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the chief executive is here in the country and is closely monitoring the pandemic situation.
“There is no truth that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte left the country this weekend,” said Sec. Roque.
“The Chief Executive is in the Philippines and closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the country,” the official added.
Tomorrow, the president is expected to deliver an announcement on the state of community quarantine in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, both of which are in the modified enhanced (MECQ).
This Sunday, the total number of COVID-19s in the Philippines hit 112,586 due to 3,420 new cases of the disease.
