ILOILO CITY-The Iloilo City Government has announced its readiness to host the second edition of Miss Universe Philippines this coming September.
This follows the proposal received by the city from the organizers that Iloilo City will be the venue of the prestigious pageant.
In an interview, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said that this is a big boost to the city’s tourism especially and the reigning Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo is a resident of Iloilo City.
According to Treñas, he also talked to Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. and the governor’s reaction was also positive.
The mayor added that it supports activities that will showcase the talent of Ilonggos and open up opportunities for business and tourism.
The mayor clarified that there is a condition for hosting the city where the city will not spend except for providing vehicles and destinations for pageant activities.
