A private citizen filed a complaint against Uson for her post last month regarding PPEs allegedly purchased and distributed by the DOH. Uson apologized for the post after netizens complained that the PPEs in question were donated by a company.
The complainant cited that Uson’s post is considered fake news, and that fake news peddlers may be penalized under the Bayanihan Heal As One Act.
NBI Cybercrime Division Chief Vic Lorenzo clarified that no charges have been filed yet against Uson. The investigation process includes summoning Uson to get a statement from her, and explain the social media post.
The NBI explained that they investigate fake news and online threats against all officials, especially if there are formal complaints filed in their office.
Uson has not given a statement as of press time.
