MANILA, Philippines – China has promised to give priority to the Philippines if it develops a vaccine against COVID-19.
This is what Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said after talks between President Rodrigo Duterte and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
According to Wang, the Philippines and China have been working together since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak when it comes to mutual assistance so the two countries have cooperated so they focus on bilateral relations.
It will be recalled that during President Duterte’s SONA, he said that he had talked to Xi and assured him that the Philippines would be given priority to get the coronavirus vaccine.
The Philippines has one of the highest infection rates in Southeast Asia with 83,673 cases and 1,947 deaths.
While the number of victims of COVID-19 continues to increase, particularly in Metro Manila.
