Senate President Vicente Sotto III is pushing for a proposal aimed at renaming Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City.
According to Sotto, it should be named after the late veteran actor Fernando Poe Jr. or better known as FPJ because of this he grew up in this area.
The senate president added that he has already announced the plan to amend the said proposal to Senator Lito Lapid.
He is also set to lay it out in the plenary session of the Senate.
He also told Sen. Manny Pacquiao is his plan because he is the Chairman of the Committee on Public works and he will also be the sponsor of such a proposal.
The senator did not hesitate to support Sotto.
It will be recalled that Sen. Lapid Senate Bill No. 1822 seeking to rename Del Monte Avenue as Fernando Poe Jr., Ave. The Senate public works committee immediately passed it.
But the Franciscan priests opposed it. According to Fr. Cielo Almazan, provincial minister of the Philippine Franciscans, built the first Christian community in San Francisco del Monte so the Senate could not do so.
He simply means that historical names in Quezon City are sacred to civic and religious history.
