MAKILALA, Cotabato – Two children who were swept away by a strong current in Barangay Kisante in the said town were rescued, Thursday afternoon.
In the video taken by Leo Mart Gallardo Balicog of Barangay New Bulatukan, some residents can be seen running while others can be heard shouting while looking for the child.
According to Balicog, he just passed by the area and was filming the strong flow of water in the river when he noticed that people were making a fuss.
Here he found out that two children in the area had fallen on a wooden bridge and were swept away by the rushing water.
When he saw the girl, Cesar Pampangan immediately jumped into the water to save the toddler.
The boy’s friend was also rescued earlier. They were immediately taken to the hospital and according to the local government are in good condition.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has given jobs to the residents who worked together to save the two children.
Governor Nancy Catamco recognized Pampangan, Nobenloi Laresa, Richard Cuenca, Julius Onto, Ramcis Damali, and Anthony Angab for their heroism.
