The ABS-CBN Corporation has come to the Supreme Court to prevent the issuance of a cease and desist order by the National Telecommunications Commisison (NTC) which has halted network operations.

The ABS-CBN Corporation has filed a petition for certiorari and prohibition against the NTC.

The network urged the Supreme Court to issue a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the implementation of the NTC’s cease and desist order.

It intends to rescind or repeal the NTC order dated May 5, 2020, which restricts the company’s operations.

ABS-CBN believes the NTC’s cease and desist order and infringement of the public’s right to information and the suppression of press freedom.

According to the network, it will cause serious damage and so-called irreparable damage to the company and its thousands of employees if the implementation of the NTC order continues.

The ABS-CBN Corporation also filed an urgent motion to immediately raffle the case to one of the SC’s divisions.
