DOH: COVID-19 cases in the Philippines over 350,000; total deaths 6,351

The number of additions to the list of victims of COVID-19 in the Philippines has returned to more than 3,000.

Based on the case bulletin released by the Department of Health (DOH), 3,139 additional cases were reported by the laboratories who submitted the report yesterday.

As many as 15 laboratories have failed to submit a report to the COVID-19 Data Repository System. The total number of confirmed cases in the country today is 351,750.

Most additional cases came from the National Capital Region, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, and Iloilo. According to the agency, 64% of new cases have tested positive in the past 14 days.

“Of the 3,139 reported cases today, 2,023 (64%) occurred within the recent 14 days (October 3 – October 16, 2020). The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (621 or 31%), Region 4A (479 or 24%) and Region 6 (214 or 11%). ”

The active cases are at 50,354. While 786 was added to the total recoveries of 294,865. While 34 is an additional of the total deaths of 6,351.

Of the 34 deaths, 17 occurred in October (50%), 9 in September (26%) 4 in August (12%) 3 in July (9%) and 1 in May (3%). Deaths were from CARAGA (7 or 21%), Region 6 (5 or 15%), Region 5 (4 or 12%), Region 3 (3 or 9%), Region 7 (3 or 9%), Region 12 ( 3 or 9%), Region 2 (2 or 6%), Region 4A (2 or 6%), Region 8 (1 or 3%), Region 10 (1 or 3%), Region 4B (1 or 3%) , CAR (1 or 3%), and NCR (1 or 3%). ”

The agency removed 87 duplicates from the total case count. This includes 74 from the range of recoveries.

“Moreover, 8 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths.”
