The Department of Tourism (DoT) has clarified that they are not in a hurry to return tourism to the country, in the face of the still-existing COVID-19 pandemic.

Tourism Usec told Bombo Radyo. Benito Bengzon that they are careful in opening places as sights, because they also consult even local governments and even other government agencies.

What we want to do is to “slowly but surely” open these tourism destinations. But the LGUs are our partners, because they are the ones who know the situation better in their areas, ”said Bengzon.

Its main purpose is to revive the economy and bring life to those in the tourism sector.

Some of the places that will be opened to local tourists are Baguio City, Boracay and Bohol.
