‘Drive-through’ services in supermarket chains, proposed to prevent COVID

One lawmaker recommended the availability of drive-through services in all supermarket chains in the country to reduce public exposure to COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019).

ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Niña Taduran, the possibility of contracting the disease while shopping at the grocery store cannot be ruled out because although there is physical distancing, the consumer spends a long time in the queue.

He said the plan of PNP (Philippine National Police) Deputy Chief for Administration PLt. Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan to have drive-through services for all frontline services of the PNP such as gun registration and vehicle clearances.

According to Taduran, supermarket owners can create online portals where their customers can pre-order and pay before picking up their purchases.

He said even those who do not have a car can buy it online and just pick up their order inside the grocery.

This way, consumers will spend less time buying their necessities.
