The film “Fan Girl” won awards at the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival awards.

It won Best Picture, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actor by Paulo Avelino and Best Actress Charlie Dizon.

The film by Direk Antoinette Jadaone is about a girl who admires her idolized celebrity.

Michael De Mesa won the Best Supporting actor award for his performance in the film “Isa Pang Bahaghari” produced by director Joel Lamangan while Best Supporting Actress Shaina Magdayao in the movie “Tagpuan”.

The hosts of the awards nights were Marco Gumabao and Kylie Versoza.

The film “Magikland” won Best Virtual Float at several awards.

Best Student Short Film- “How to Be a Woman”.

Best Child Peformer – Seiyo Masunaga in the movie “The Missing”.

Best Musical Score – Emerzon Texxon in the movie “Magikland”.

Best Theme Song – “Ulan” by Jhay Cura and Pau Protacio in the movie “The Boy Foretold By The Stars”.

Best Visual Effects – Richard Francia and Ryan Grimarez for “Magikland”.

Best Production Design – Ericson Navarro for “Magikland”.

Gender Sensitivity Award – “The Boy Foretold by the Stars”.

Special Jury Prize – late director Peque Gallaga.

Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award – “Suarez: The Healing Priest”.

Manay Ichu Vera-Perez Memorial Award – Gloria Romero.

Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award – “Magikland”.

Virtual awarding was conducted due to coronavirus pandemic.

The films “The Boy Foretold By The Stars”, “The Missing” and “Magikland” will have 12 nominations each.
