Football legend Diego Maradona has passed away at the age of 60

According to his camp, the former Argentina attacking midfielder allegedly had a heart attack.

In recent weeks he underwent surgery for a blood clot in his brain as well as undergoing treatment for alcoholism.

Maradona became the team captain of Argentina Football Club when they won the 1986 World Cup title.

He has a total of 34 goals in his 91 games in Argentina and he has been in four World Cups.

At the height of its popularity it became a cocaine addict so it was banned for 15 months after testing positive for drugs in 1991.

It was 1997 when he retired from professional football on his 37th birthday.

He was busy managing several football teams of the United Arab Emirates and Mexico and he was the current manager of Gimnasia y Esgrima of Argentina before he passed away.

The Argentina Football Association took the lead in extending their condolences to the passing of the football great.
