President Rodrigo Duterte approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to return Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Bulacan and Cavite from the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) from August 19 to September 3.

The president made the approval in conjunction with their national address from Davao city on Monday night.

The recommendation was read by Presidential spokesman Harry Roque after a meeting of the IATF and Metro Manila Council (MMC).

The rest of the country will remain in the modified general community quarantine.

Roque said that under the GCQ more establishments will be open, dine-in service will be allowed but attendance at mass should be only 30% as well.

It will be recalled that a group of doctors recommended that NCR and some parts of the country be put in a modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) to provide rest for the rising cases of coronavirus.
