Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III assured that no Filipino in the United Kingdom has been hit by the new coronavirus variant.

It is said to be based on a report by DOLE officials in the UK.

He said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will also meet today to discuss travel restrictions for travelers coming from abroad with recorded cases of the new COVID-19.

It is possible that a decision will be made later for areas where cases of new coronavirus variants such as Australia, Singapore, and Japan will also be considered in the travel ban.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque had earlier said that passengers coming from countries with a new coronavirus vairant from the UK would also need to undergo mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival in the country.
