It was a clear violation of the existing firearm protocol of the PNP by Police Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca who shot the couple in Tarlac on Sunday.
According to PNP Spokesperson BGen. Ildibrandi Usana, this is a violation of PNP administrative rules because Nuezca used his “personal agenda” with his gun.
Because of this, Nuezca will surely be terminated from service once the case against him is resolved.
Usana clarified that the police are allowed to carry guns even when they are not on duty.
Usana stressed that their function as law enforcement is 24/7 and they can use the gun to respond to sudden crimes and other occasions when they need help.
However, it is strictly forbidden to use it for personal reasons.
